If you fancy going to a festival this weekend then make sure you go the whole hog.

Big things are happening in Bordon this Saturday as Hogfest will kick off at midday.

There will be fun for all the community with live music, food, crafts and more taking place at Hogmoor Inclosure.

Best of all, the flagship event organised by the Whitehill & Bordon Community Trust (WBCT) from midday to 9pm is completely free to enjoy having become a firm highlight of the Whitehill & Bordon summer calendar.

“Hogfest brings the whole community together for a day of live music, food, craft and family fun – and it’s free to attend,” said a spokesperson for the WBCT.

“We’re thrilled to be involved and are looking forward to an amazing day packed with entertainment, community spirit and plenty of reasons to smile.”

Live music will play a big part of the day’s proceedings with Evie Grace, Tim Wenman, Planet Baby and King of Queen among the seven acts confirmed so far.

Dom Reynolds & D’Band will get the party started, playing hits from the 60s to present day in a set that combines ‘dad vibes’ with Britpop energy.

Tinpanboy is a 13-year-old up-and-coming DJ and music producer who will spin a mix of house and drum & bass, while Johnny No Show are guaranteed to bring plenty of energy. The five-piece are a female-fronted 2000s pop-punk rock and indie covers band with a penchant for MTV and Kerrang-era anthems from the likes of Green Day, Blink-182, Arctic Monkeys, Rage Against the Machine, The Darkness and more.

There’s no excuse for going thirsty as beer, wine, spirits and slushie cocktails will be served up by Wrengine 44, a family-run bar converted from a fire engine. Daisy’s Sandwiches will also offer festival sustenance, with more options onsite.

Youngsters can try their hand at a climbing wall while The Gamers Lounge should press a few buttons. The Guildford-based retro gaming enterprise will bring portable solar-powered Raspberry Pi emulators loaded with thousands of retro games from the 1980s through the late 2000s.

Visitors can also expect a summer raffle, plenty of craft stalls featuring the handiwork of local makers and traders, and plenty of kids’ activities throughout the day.

Local skater boys and girls also have something to look forward to as the WBCT is gearing up for Bike, Skate and Scooter Week.

A series of events ‘celebrating everything on wheels’ will take place throughout the town from August 25 to 30 with Camp Rubicon holding a Skate and Scooter School at Budds Lane skatepark next Tuesday and Wednesday.

Expect riding, tricks and community spirit when Skate Jam 2.0 returns to the same venue next Thursday, with a BMW Track Day taking placer from 1pm to 4pm on Friday.

The week rounds off with Track Fest on Sunday, August, 30, at the Jubilee Park pump track with riders coming together for a celebratory finale delivered in partnership with the town council.
