The Shed in Bordon will celebrate its first birthday with a party with something for everyone in the Town Park and the Town Square on Saturday (May 28) from midday until 10pm.

Twelve months ago it opened to the public with a launch that received massive support from local people. This has continued throughout the year as the eclectic mix of local food and drink sellers, specialist shops, arts and crafts businesses and outdoor markets has grown.

A Shed spokesperson said: “To mark the anniversary and to thank everyone who has visited and supported The Shed in the past year we are having an all-day party to which everyone is invited.

“There will be live music throughout the day and into the night, children’s entertainment and rides, a chance to pick up some real circus skills, or just to enjoy the delights of the petting farm.

“Spider-Man and Frozen’s Elsa will make guest appearances and the traditional Punch and Judy show will enthral the kids.”

The history of the town will be represented by an Army tank and displays from the Woolmer Forest Heritage Society. There will also be a fire engine from Bordon fire station.

A special Saturday market will be running and all The Shed’s traders will have their full range of tasty locally-made food, drinks, local produce and crafts on offer, with some one-offs just for the day on the menu plus slushies and cocktails to toast the first year.

The Shed is the first key milestone in a brand-new town centre that is starting to take shape.

It sits adjacent to the new Town Park and Town Square and opposite the Everyone Active leisure centre with its six-lane swimming pool and fitness centre.

More retail, entertainment, leisure and health facilities are in the pipeline as part of the wider project to transform Whitehill & Bordon into a sustainable green, healthy and connected town.

It will have a town centre that will be a place to be immersed in retail, leisure and well-being amenities, as well as offering 370 acres of green space at Hogmoor Inclosure and Bordon Inclosure.
