THERE is a familiar face back behind the bar at The George in Alton as Susannah Stredder, who was landlady for 10 years before she left, has returned to take over the management from ex-husband Jason.
And she has been busy introducing new attractions into the pretty 18th Century pub.
In keeping with present drinking trends, Susannah has installed gin and cocktail bars “at customer friendly prices” and introduced a gourmet-themed dinner menu which features fresh fish on Friday nights.
Susannah makes sure it is fresh as she personally goes to Portsmouth fish market early in the morning to buy them for that night’s menu.
“I am back!” she said. “I have done a complete re-launch and introduced a new dinner menu and we are open until midnight on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
“Also, our large garden is a lovely place to sit with a drink on warm evenings.
“Our customers will also be able to see our growing art wall, which covers several walls and is the work of 18 artists who live in and around the town. It is very impressive.”
