A BREAST cancer survivor has launched her own calendar, hoping its unique approach will help raise funds for Breast Cancer Now.

Jaime Hemming, of Farnham, was diagnosed with breast cancer in September 2017, aged 36, with no family history of the disease.

“I had a cyst one side a few years before that, but found out that was nothing,” said Jaime.

She described how she found another lump in early 2017, leaving it “for about eight months”.

The mother-of-four was later on a Scout trip when a kayak hit her in the middle of her chest, where she felt the lump was “pretty big” and decided to visit the hospital.

It was then she discovered she had breast cancer, having a lumpectomy before finding the cancer had spread to her lymph nodes.

She then went through chemotherapy and radiotherapy before being given the all-clear.

Jaime said: “That treatment went on for nearly a year, and straight out of radiotherapy I joined In2Training in Farnham.”

It was at In2Training that Jaime’s health and confidence grew, with the help of the gym members who encouraged her along he way.

“I sort of crawled in there after chemo – I was an absolute state, a broken mess. They just gave me the confidence, telling me ‘you’re fine, you can do it’,” she said.

She built up her strength through working out, particularly with crossfit.

It was soon after joining she decided she wanted to raise some money for Breast Cancer Now, with the members offering to model in a calendar for her.

“I said okay, let’s give it a try! I put out a call for a photographer and Burton Media came on board, – Paul has taken some absolutely amazing photos.

“This is one of a kind.”

Each picture in the calendar includes an image and motivational words.

“I will be describing on each page about the women who have been through breast cancer – so strong, brave, resilient, powerful – and the boys represent that.

“It’s just come together so organically and beautifully, and the photos are amazing.”

Jaime has received funding from Givft Station on Lion and Lamb Way, which will be printing and selling the calendar, with all the funds donated to Breast Cancer Now.

Calendars can also be pre-ordered online at Jaime’s website, www.crushingcancer.co.uk
