USERS of the number 65 bus from Alton to Farnham have until next Friday to complete a survey which could determine the future of the service.

Run by Alton Town Council and Bentley Parish Council to help Stagecoach South to better understand local support for the service, survey sheets can be picked up from Alton town hall and Bentley post office.

About to be axed for under use, due to public pressure the 65 bus service was granted a nine-month reprieve in September last year to allow Stagecoach to establish if demand for the service could be increased enough to make it viable.

Passengers had argued that the bus was the only one to service the village of Bentley and that it provided a vital link for students and workers, and for access to Farnham Hospital, as well as those wishing to continue on to Guildford.

The results of the survey will be collated and forwarded to Stagecoach and Hampshire County Council.
