ALTON Town Council has given the green light to the relocation of Alton Town Football Club from the Coors Sports Ground in Anstey Road to the Enclosure, which it will share with Alton United Youth FC, at Anstey Park.

The decision, at a full council meeting at Alton Assembly Rooms last Thursday, was based on approval of the proposals by Molson Coors for the upgrading of the Enclosure to enable ATFC to continue playing at Combined Counties League (F grade).

Combined with the decision, taken in December, to enter an agreement to make land available at Chawton Park Road for the construction of a new facility for Alton Social Bowls Club, this will leave Molson Coors free to apply for planning permission on the Coors Sports Ground site, having met its obligation to relocate both its sporting tenants.
