THE Haslemere Penny Ha’Penny Trust has provided ten new Covid-19 antibody tests for front-line staff at the Minor Injuries Unit in town.
The presence of antibodies tells you if you’ve had the disease.
Trustee Simon Dear said: “I bought one if these test kits privately as I’m in and out of shops a lot at the moment and I wanted to know my status.
“At a recent visit to the MIU, I spoke to staff about the test and they were really interested in having them done. They’re obviously at the very sharp end of the difficulties we’re having, even more so than usual.
“They never know who’s coming in, why or what they’ve got wrong. And as numerous campaigns have demonstrated, we love our Minor Injuries Unit.”
Having spoken to the MIU management, the charity decided it would obtain tests for ten staff, which it has done. They were handed over on Tuesday.
MIU Chief Nurse Practitioner Julia Hastings, with 20 years’ service at the MIU, said: “This is a bit unorthodox, but that’s the great thing about Haslemere. The people in the town always rally round help out. We’re very grateful to the Penny Ha’Penny Trust, who also brought us a basket of fruit and hand cream the other day.”
