A group which provides hygiene handouts to less fortunate people around the lower Blackwater Valley has been given a helping hand by Farnham Town Council.

The Farnham & Aldershot Hygiene Bank has been given a £500 community grant by the town council to continue its good work locally.

The volunteer-run charity is akin to food bank as it battles hygiene poverty by collecting and redistributing donated items like soap, shower gel, toothpaste and detergent to people struggling with the cost of living crisis.

“This grant will make a massive difference – it will go a long way,” said volunteer, Liz Jones.

The group has yellow tower donation points in Boots, The Maltings, St Thomas and many other locations locally.
