THE Hampshire and Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust is appealing for “lookers” and volunteers to help with tasks around its reserves in the county.

The trust is appealing for volunteers to check livestock on reserves in north-east Hampshire, including Bordon, Liss and Longmoor, as well as in the Hook, Fleet and Aldershot areas.

The trust also has three practical volunteer groups, which work at sites such as Pamber Forest near Tadley, Foxlease Moors near Lyndhurst, and Hook Common. These volunteers help reserve officers to carry out conservation work, including improving public access, erecting fencing, cutting scrub and felling small trees.

David Jewsbury, assistant reserves officer at the trust, said: “Hampshire is lucky to contain some fantastic wildlife areas, and working as a conservation volunteer is a brilliant way to enjoy these open spaces while making a contribution to their day-to-day management.”

No experience is required and all training will be given, including how to use tools and work with livestock.
