Revellers have shared the love as a mayoral fundraiser at a Bordon theatre for hurricane victims in Jamaica has raised £900.

Around 170 people got together and felt alright over the Bank Holiday weekend when Whitehill & Bordon mayor, Cllr Leeroy Scott, brought the sounds and food of his homeland to the Phoenix Theatre & Arts Centre.

His One Love Jamaica event in aid of Hurricane Melissa victims included authentic Jamaican street food and a live performance from David Brewster and his Faze 3 reggae/steel band.

Cllr Scott – who has now raised around £4,500 for the appeal with more events planned – says the money is making a difference back home.

He said: “They’ve sent pictures – the money has helped rebuild many houses.”
