PEOPLE in a Meon Valley community have put out a May day appeal for help with a milestone event.

Proceeds from this year’s May Fair in East Meon will go towards much-needed repairs to the village hall.

This year should be a golden one for the venue as the hall is 50 years old, but it’s in desperate need of repairs with work expected to cost more than £400,000.

“This year is special, as it’s the village hall’s 50th birthday and we are raising funds for the refurbishment,” said a supporter and co-organiser.

Fair organisers are looking for a helping hand on May 18 with a call going out for entertainers, musicians, singers, jugglers to take part.

Donations and raffle prizes are also sought, while organisers are also keen to hear from villagers with fundraising or sponsorship ideas.

Help will also be needed on the day, with organisers keen to muster as much volunteer help as possible. If you can help email info@eastmeonvillage hall.co.uk
