ALTON Community Cupboard has received £400 from Alton Lions Club to help it support people in need at Christmas.

Located in Westbrook Walk, Alton Community Cupboard is a voluntary organisation which collects perishable surplus food such as fruit, vegetables, bread, cake, meat and dairy products which would otherwise be thrown away, plus flowers and decorations, from local supermarkets.
It suggests those using the service donate £2 to help with running costs. It opens Monday to Saturday from 11.30am to 1pm, and it will also be open from 8pm to 10pm on Christmas Eve.
