POLICE are appealing for information following the theft last month of a green Hayter Harrier 41 lawn mower from a garage in the Eastbrooke area of Alton.

The petrol mower is thought to have been stolen between Friday, March 17, and Saturday, March 25, when an intruder broke the lock and handle to the garage.

The machine belongs to Alton Men’s Club, who use it to cut the lawns of residents living in Radian Housing Association properties.

It was bought secondhand and, with repair costs to get it going, cost the Men’s Club £80.

A charitable organisation whose volunteer members do a lot of good work to support their community, not only is the Men’s Club out of pocket over the loss of a valued piece of equipment but it is faced with possible repair costs to the garage, which is owned by Radian, and the purchase of another mower.

Anyone with any information that might help in the recovery of the mower is asked to call Alton Police on 101, quoting 44170125546, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
