I AM a Bramshott and Liphook councillor and a certified marine engineer specialising in water desalination and on corrosion of materials in sea water.

In 1989 I became estates manager of Bohunt Manor, the home of my aunt, Lady Holman, who wanted to preserve the estate for visitors.

Just before she died I promised I would do all I could to preserve the estate for the enjoyment of the people of Liphook.

In April 2011, Bohunt Manor was included in the South Downs National Park. I oppose massive housing developments in all parts of the national park.

I will continue to campaign for better recreational opportunities and to protect the environment in Liphook and elsewhere in East Hampshire.

East Hampshire Conservatives have continually promoted large-scale housing in the national park, or even to have the park boundary shifted.

If they succeeded it would increase the risk of urban sprawl all over East Hampshire and destroy parts of our national park for ever.

I am committed to a transparent and accountable process ensuring any new roads or housing developments comply with the interests of the community, instead of anonymous property developers.
