THE semi-finals of the Miss England beauty contest take place at Kelham Hall in Nottinghamshire tomorrow with four of the contestants hailing from Hampshire.
Miss Southampton Isobelle Cooper, who has raised more than £30,000 for charity, will be competing against Miss Isle of Wight Yasmin Black. They were both runners-up in the Miss Hampshire contest at the Alton House Hotel in March, which was won by Channon Kail from Portsmouth.
Channon gained a grand final spot after her win in Alton.
Also competing is last year’s Miss Hampshire, Larissa Hirst. Larissa placed in the top 15 out of more than 20,000 contestants 12 months ago, which guaranteed her a semi-finalist place this year. She also won the national Brainy Beauty award, clinching the title against other contestants by scoring top in an intelligence test.
And Nicola Ascroft will represent Basingstoke at the Miss England semi-finals after winning the national Miss England charity award for all her fundraising work.
Only 10 of the 70 semi-finalists will gain a place in the grand finals of Miss England, which will take place in Southport in July.
The contestants will have an interview with a panel of judges, as well as a photoshoot around the grounds of the venue, Kelham Hall near Newark. In the evening all 70 competitors will take part in two catwalk rounds – focusing on evening and eco-wear – where they will model outfits they have created out of eco fashion.
