POLICE are appealing for information after cash was stolen during a burglary at an Alton charity shop.

The incident happened between 4.50pm on Sunday, November 13, and 8.40am on Monday, November 14, at the Scope charity shop on the High Street.

According to police, a fire escape was forced open to gain entry to the building and once inside £30 cash was stolen.

Investigating officer PC Dave Parkinson said: “Do you know who did this, or have you heard anyone boasting about breaking into a charity shop?

“Stealing something is bad enough but stealing something from a charity where money is raised for worthy causes is absolutely despicable. I would urge anyone with information to come forward and speak to us in confidence and tell us what they know.”
