A street party was held in the car park of The Cooperage retirement complex in Alton to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

As the four-day Jubilee weekend started last Thursday, the residents festooned the area with bunting and put on their finest red, white and blue clothes to toast the Queen’s 70 years on the throne.

For a long-term reminder of the event, the residents also planted a Platinum Jubilee tree in the grounds.

Resident Pam Harland who, like the Queen, has reached the age of 96, placed a commemorative plaque in front of the tree.
