A REVIVAL of the Alton Carnival, last held in the mid 1990s and to be themed this year on Sixty Glorious Years, is to be the highlight of a programme of events to celebrate The Queen's Diamond Jubilee.

While many organisations and societies in the town are holding their own events to celebrate the royal milestone, the town's Diamond Jubilee Event Working Party, made up of town councillors and representatives from local organisations has been planning a series of major events to ensure that Alton lives up to its tradition of celebrating jubilees in a big way.
