A ROWAN tree was planted in the churchyard at Holy Cross Church in Binsted on
March 2 to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

Tree warden Ben Hamlin helped churchwarden Stella Croom-Johnson, who came up with the idea and prepared the ground.

Church representatives and residents watched pupils from Binsted CE Primary School plant the tree in the rain.

The rowan came from the Bentley village rewilding project and joins two other trees celebrating the Queen’s Silver and Golden Jubilees.

Nick Carter made a short speech and blessed the tree on behalf of the church.
