The Met Office has issued a ’yellow’ weather warning, with the heavy rain forecast to peak across the South East during the afternoon.
The highest rainfall accumulations are only likely to occur in a few spots where the showers become slow-moving, with 40mm to 50mm possible in only a couple of hours.
There is a small chance of flooding and power cuts, while lightning and some hail may also prove additional hazards.
The showers are expected to persist in the South East into the evening.
