POLICE are appealing for information after two people suffered life threatening injuries in a collision on the A31 at Ropley.
At around 11am on Sunday a motorised tricycle travelling west, toward Winchester, collided with a crash barrier on the roundabout near Bishops Sutton.
The rider, a 45-year-old man from Ringwood, and the pillion, a 51-year-old man from Bournemouth, were treated at the scene before being airlifted to Southampton General Hospital.
The rider remains in a stable condition while the pillion is critical.
The road was closed until around 4pm, with a diversion set up through Bishops Sutton and Alresford, to allow police to carry out an investigation and recovery of the scene.
South Central Ambulance Service had three crews at the scene, including a Hazardous Area Response Team (HART), two BASICs doctors, and two air ambulance crews, who landed in a nearby field.
Police would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision or saw the vehicle driving prior to it.
Anyone with information should contact Sergeant Adrienne Jerram of Fratton Police on 101, quoting Operation Democrat, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
