ANDOVER II 0, ALTON LADIES 7
ALTON Ladies travelled to Andover with the firm intention of scoring more than the single goal they had managed the week before. They duly put seven goals past Andover who are struggling in Hampshire Division Two.
The home side were immediately pushed back into their D and a series of Alton attacks resulted in a short corner that was dispatched with ease by Jenny Rust.
The second goal was almost a repeat of last week’s winner as Naomi Jones delivered a strong ball for Gayle Moir to deflect into the roof of the net.
A dominant Alton won another short corner and the ball was slipped left for an unmarked Louise Yeadon to slide home. Lastly in this half, Steph Millington scored after a tussle in the D to make it 4-0.
Andover were more organised in the second half and it was Alton’s turn to defend. But the visitors were soon attacking as a solid unit and Moir found the back of the net from a deflected ball for her second goal.
The home team were then caught too high up the pitch and Molly Steven sprinted into the D to score an unassisted goal.
The rout was complete when Naomi Jones threw herself at the far post to meet a cross and bundled the ball over the line.
It’s a completely different challenge for Alton this week when league leaders Fareham II visit Amery Hill.
