Alton four claim title

THE Alton Bowling Club men’s rink of Paul Schofield, David Sims, Ronnie Roberts and John Blair triumphed in the final of the Basingstoke & District Fours Competition on Saturday.

Competing against Kingsclere BC at Howard Park, Alton built up an early lead, but by the halfway mark it was all-square at 10-10.

A nail-biting second half followed and the points gradually mounted up until the Alton four clinched victory by 17 points to 13.

Alton also won their Basingstoke League fixture on Friday, beating St Mary Bourne 4-1. In the Whitchurch League Division Two, Alton A were 4-1 winners over Marnell Blues, while the B team also won 4-1 against Basingstoke Hearts in their Division Four game.
