TROJANS II 0, HASLEMERE II 3
HASLEMERE II finally recorded their first win of the season in Hampshire 1, despite resources being thin across the club.
Sam Moreno, Julian Amesbury and Pete Crook were called up for their first games of the season, and Haslemere resisted Trojans’ early pressure, with Ben Powell making some excellent saves.
A breakaway attack almost brought Haslemere the lead as Will Hams was denied an open goal by a strong stick tackle, earning them a short corner rather than a penalty flick.
However, Pete Crook later found himself one-on-one and showed great composure to slot the ball through the goalkeeper’s legs: 1-0 to Haslemere.
The visitors started the second half with serious attacking intent and a break down the left by Amesbury led to another cool finish by Crook.
Being in front was quite foreign to Haslemere, but every player worked hard to secure a desperately needed three points and a clean sheet.
There was still enough time left for plenty to happen. Thankfully for Haslemere, it was a Crook hat-trick that happened as he slotted past the floundering Trojans keeper after a scrappy short corner.
With two big games coming up, it looks like Haslemere 2nd XI may have finally found their mojo.
