SATURDAY’S postponed matches gave Alton a chance to take stock after an eventful few weeks, during which manager Michael Charles departed the club.

The 3G pitch at Anstey Park enabled Alton to organise a hastily arranged club game, allowing Clive Ventham – interim manager until Mark Corbett takes over next season – and returning reserve team manager Robbie Clayton to cast an eye over some new signings in a match environment.

Ventham is now being assisted by Kevin Beaumont, giving Sean Hayes the chance to concentrate on playing. The raft of new signings on show included centre-half Adam Amiable from Amesbury Town, plus Kieron Robinson, Adam Westwood, and brothers Henry and Sam Panther. Two trialists also took part.

Alton have also recruited Tolume Sotonye and were hoping to make further signings during the build-up to Saturday’s home match against Romsey Town.

*Alresford’s run in the FA Vase came to an end when they lost 3-2 away to Corinthian in the second round proper.
