HASLEMERE 9, NEW FOREST 2

HASLEMERE Ladies used a squad of 14 players to devastating effect, putting nine goals past a hapless New Forest side at Woolmer Hill.

The visitors didn’t know what hit them as Haslemere scored four times in the first 12 minutes. Goal-hungry forwards Alex Hardy, Ashley Davies and Heidi Wells linked up with midfielders Donna Read, Melanie Knight, Sarah Elworthy, Siobhan Orchard-Webb and Hannah Enticknap as Haslemere played some textbook hockey.

Communication was led right from the back by keeper Eleanor Abrahams who urged her team-mates forward.

It was 5-1 at half-time and coach Ben Newton had some statistics to share with his players.

There was no respite for the visitors in the second half. Haslemere added four more goals, while New Forest did manage to double their tally.

Wells and Davies both scored hat-tricks and there was one apiece for Hardy, Claire Powell and Isobel Breen.

Defenders Rebecca Mitchell, Jessica Edwards, Abigail Walhen and Isobel Breen had one of their easier outings and were probably disappointed to concede those two goals.
