ANDY Burnham, one of the favourites to succeed Ed Miliband as Labour leader, will be holding a public meeting in Alton on Friday.

The meeting is at the Alton House Hotel, on Normandy Street, at 12.45pm.

Howard Linsley, a leading member of Mr Burnham’s South East campaign, said: “I am pleased Andy Burnham is coming to Alton on Friday and it’s great members and supporters will have the opportunity to meet, hear and ask Andy questions during his time with us.

“I believe Andy Burnham has the competence, vision, strength and experience to be a great leader of the Labour Party to lead the opposition to David Cameron’s government.

"He also has the ability to be an outstanding Prime Minister in 2020.”
