Jane Austen Regency Week returned to Alton and Chawton after two years away with a programme of 45 events.
It began with Alton Regency Day, where stalls offered Regency finery and souvenirs, and a horse and carriage gave tours of the town.
This was followed by the sell-out Regency Ball at the Alton Assembly Rooms led by the Hampshire Regency Dancers.
The festival’s new patron is Caroline Jane Knight – Jane Austen’s fifth great niece and the last of her nieces to grow up at Chawton House when it was still a family home.
Jane Austen Literacy Foundation founder Caroline led a Parade for Literacy from Jane Austen’s House to Chawton House.
Caroline and her parents, Jeremy and Carol Knight, hosted a Jane Austen Regency Picnic at Chawton House with entertainment from Susannah Harker, who played Jane Bennet in the BBC’s Pride and Prejudice in 1995.
