RE-ENACTORS of all ages and from all genres descended on Alton earlier this month for the annual GoGeek comic con event.
Held for the third year running at Alton Assembly Rooms, with a host of costumers and props, GoGeek did what it does best by creating an unforgettable interactive experience for visitors of all ages.
From science-fiction to marvel super heroes and from pirates to princesses there was something for everyone, to support the ethos of the event company which is one of inclusiveness.
Based in Southampton, according to owner/director Mark Hendley, GoGeek stages these “extraordinary” events across the south of England, with a particular emphasis on fun and imagination while engaging in a relaxed and friendly environment.
All volunteers were there for the kick they get out of putting on a costume, quite often one researched and made by themselves, and of immersing themselves in the character, and they were joined by a handful of professional actors who dress up as super heroes for a living.
According to Mr Hendley, the company is not just there to stage events but for the greater good of encouraging those with mental health issues to use the costumes and the experience to give them the courage to engage without inhibition by being a superhero, and benefiting from the golden rule of zero tolerance to bullying or harassment.
