TERRY Eccott has resigned from Alton Town Council.
According to town clerk Steve Parkinson, Mr Eccott had sought permission for personal use of the council chamber, which was refused in accordance with policy on use of the chamber.
Mr Eccott cited this refusal in his resignation to the town mayor.
Elected in May 2011 to represent the Whitedown ward on Alton Town Council as a Conservative councillor, Mr Eccott resigned from the party in September of that year, later giving up his role as deputy town mayor due to health reasons but continuing to serve as an independent councillor.
