Hindhead Royal British Legion has set up a community warm hub in its club on Beacon Hill Road.

The legion is asking for donations of toys, colouring books, colouring pens and crayons, magazines, books and board games to go in the hub – which will be open daily from 1pm.

Wayne Harvey, who has helped set up the hub, said: “We are committed to helping the community in Beacon Hill, Hindhead and the surrounding villages during this cold winter.

“We are pleased to be working with the amazing team at Pact Coffee and Tesco in Haslemere – without them this would not have been possible.

“Everyone is welcome to join us for a cup of tea or coffee to keep warm.”

Pact Coffee head roaster Jonny Gagel said: “The efforts by Wayne and the team to keep people warm in this cold December are amazing, and I’m glad the coffee we’re roasting can do its small bit to help.”

Tesco Haslemere community champion Jo Bouslimi said: “Tesco Haslemere is so proud to be supporting the warm hub at the Hindhead Royal British Legion. It will be providing a crucial service to our local community this winter, and we are happy to provide refreshments for its users to enjoy.

“Wayne and the team have done a fantastic job in setting up such an important initiative.”
