CHILDREN in Need Day in Alton next Friday (November 13) will see the gathering at Jubilee Fields of a convoy of driving instructors as part of The Big Learner Relay.

A nationwide fundraiser for Children in Need, the relay convoy is expected to arrive in Alton from Winchester at 11am, to enable the lead driver to hand over the Big Learner Relay roof sign to Ian Weir of Alton’s Think Driving School.

He will be joined on the next leg of the relay by Sam Watson, of the Alton Driving School, and Douglas Edwards and Frances Blatch, of Think Driving School, who will leave Alton at noon bound for Farnborough.

The lead car will be covered in Pudsey Bear spots, which can be sponsored, and donations can be made via justgiving.com/the-big-learner-relay-15 or by texting Pass65 followed by the donation amount to 70070.

The instructors will actually be giving lessons during their leg of the relay, with all the cars driven by learners. They would welcome a good send off from Jubilee Fields and will be aiming to help top last year’s Big Learner Relay total of £65,000.
