THE prospect of more than 500 new homes on land north of Alton has triggered calls for a more holistic and pro-active approach by planners, to deliver sensible and sustainable development with good supporting infrastructure.
And key to that development, some believe, could be the construction of a new road linking the old and new Odiham roads.
Residents from the Old Odiham Road and Upper Anstey Lane area of Alton have banded together to fight to protect their environment in the face of the proposed development which is expected to stretch across three sites, bringing hundreds more houses to the northern hillside and an overwhelming increase in traffic using the surrounding roads.
