PROPOSALS for a pre-school nursery on the Eggar's School site in London Road, Holybourne have triggered fears that the increase in drop-off and pick-up traffic could endanger children.

Alton Town Council's planning and transportation

committee has also registered its objection to the

Tootsies Nursery Ltd proposal for demolition of the

former caretakers bungalow in the grounds of Eggar's

and the construction of a single-storey timber building for up to 80 pre-school children and 30 staff, with parking and drop-off.

Councillors felt that the proposal incorporated inadequate car parking within the site clear of the highway and would result in parking and queuing problems on the public highway.
