THE under-13 and under-15 girls at Lord Wandsworth College at Long Sutton, near Odiham, swept the board as the county finals of the Lady Taverners indoor cricket competition came to a climax at The Ageas Bowl last week.
The under-13 side remained unbeaten in a closely-fought round-robin competition with Priestlands, John Hanson and Testbourne schools.
The under-15 final came down to a showdown between Eggar’s School in Alton and Lord Wandsworth, who duly completed the double and progress to the regional finals in Guildford with their younger counterparts next month.
Soma Singh, director of sport at Lord Wandsworth College, which was recently voted in the top 100 cricket schools in the UK by the Cricketer magazine, said: “We’re incredibly proud of them.
“This is a fitting start to the next stage of girls’ cricket at Lord Wandsworth College, with a specific focus on the coaching and playing of the game for all girls at the college from this summer onwards.”
