Two men have been jailed after admitting shoplifting in Four Marks.

Stuart Daniel Austin, 50, of Alexandra Road in Alton, and Nathan Lee Ingham, 36, of no fixed address, appeared at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court on December 2, when they admitted stealing meat from the M&S garage in Winchester Road on November 30.

Austin was jailed for 12 weeks and issued with a criminal behaviour order. Ingham was also jailed for 12 weeks for the same offence, which also activated a suspended sentence for shoplifting, so he will now serve a total of 48 weeks in prison.

A Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary spokesperson said: “We will not tolerate this kind of offending and will work hard to ensure that shoplifters face their day in court wherever possible.”
